Smart UI Transitions (using mental models and allowances)

This post is about how new UI technologies offer a better user experience of transition between software states. It refers to mental models and allowances, even though they are not mentioned directly.

The article “Smart Transitions In User Experience Design” provides good examples of how small changes and animation make it much easier for the user to see what happens and to discover structures of a website of software. These are important because without mental models of a user interface, context will be lost. I recommend using such smart transitions, if possibly.
