Big screens + Less content = More impressive

This is a trend that I realised a couple of months ago: Even though screens get bigger and bigger (24″ screens are found more often than not with new PCs), web designers do not increase the amount of content they offer. They could even reduce scrolling and yet they build large websites that require a lot of scrolling.

However, with large background images and little text, these websites get more and more impressive. This leads to a positive attitude towards a product or brand, even though detailed information may lack. Just look at Swiftkey.net or demicreative.com. These websites look awesome and I, personally, do not mind scrolling down. Quick navigation to anchors on the page make it even easier. Of course, the products offered are simple compared to others, but yet the impression is awesome.
